Thanksgiving Photo update

Just thought I should let you all know where things were with the Thanksgiving Feast pictures. First off, I have to apologize for being so technologically challenged. This stuff is hard for me for whatever reason! I need my husband's (or someone else's) help to get these sorts of things going! So, we've mainly been having to wait for either my computer to get fixed or someone to help me figure out how to get pictures from my email to this blog! I have the computer fixed and should soon have the help! I'll probably just end up putting up both the Thanksgiving and the Holiday program pictures at the same time. Sorry for the delay! Your patience with my computer illiteracy is appreciated!

The bonus word

I just wanted to share a quick anecdote about the bonus words... The kids have been really excited about them. It cracks me up how much they've really gotten into this! They were asking me all week last week to tell them what the bonus word would be, and a few have started up already this week. They also would actually talk about it with each other too, at recess and such. I overheard a few students saying, "I wonder what the bonus word will be," and "I hope I can spell the bonus word," and "It's cool that we get an extra point for the bonus word." I wasn't really sure they'd quite understand the concept, but many of them not only understood it, but have really been interested and motivated by it! I was just hoping for extra practice of some of their "reading" words, but this exceeds my expectations! It's really exciting to see them getting so involved with and excited about their learning process!

Our Blog is finally up and running

After much ado (and the misspelling of my name several times), we finally figured out why we couldn't get my blog or school email address to work! But now the wait is over, everything is finally running!

One quick bit of info... Starting this week we will be sending home word lists with your child. These are from our phonics program and have words that we have been practicing reading in class. The marked words are the words your child has successfully read in class. Please continue to practice all of the listed words with your child and have them pick out these and other familiar spelling words in books that you read to them. We are developing many budding readers in our class!
